As is legally required for all Washington state cannabis patients, Nito needed photo ID. I was very nervous about this, not only because Nito is difficult and throws tantrums, but also because he does not enjoy waiting rooms. I called the licensing place and discussed my situation, and arranged to have my husband watch my 3 year old. I am an unschooling parent which means I respect my son's passions whatever they may be. My son loves his iPad for all types of learning and fun activities, so I brought it along. Before cannabis, the iPad did not prevent tantrums in public. But this day, unschooling and cannabis came together. The man I had spoken to asked me to come to his booth right away with my son. He processed everything and got my son straight to camera area. My son was so calm that he did not even need me to hold his hand. He kept his iPad in his hands and I stood next to him so he could take a picture. My son actually looked up and smiled, and it was just in time for the camera lady to snap a great picture!
